FAQs
What is your process for encapsulation?
I use the Traditional Chinese Method (TCM) for encapsulation. It is believed the birthing person is Yin (or cold) after the birthing person. It is believed that using ginger, cayenne and lemon we can cleanse, preserve and warm the birthing person back to Yang. To do this, I steam the placenta with Cayenne, Lemon and ginger. I follow this with a dehydration process that usually lasts 12-14 hours. Finally, I will grind your placenta into a fine powder to place into the capsules for consumption. Before even beginning to encapsulate, I will wash and examine all placentas to ensure they are healthy.
What type of Capsules do you use?
I have several options for capsules. My standard is a size zero clear vegan capsule. I do however offer blue vegan capsules to hide the powder if there is concerns with seeing placenta powder. I also have Strawberry and Coffee flavored bovine capsules for anyone concerned about the taste or burp factor after consuming their capsules.
What if my placenta is unhealthy, sent to pathology, or my placenta spoils?
In the case that your placenta becomes unusable, I will still provide memory services. I am also happy to take pictures and a video tour of your placenta if you would like. Depending on the circumstances of your placenta, I am happy to turn your placenta into powder for you to return to the earth. Usually in these cases, I will refund some or all of your fees.
Do you work with those on a budget?
Absolutely! I offer payment plans that are quite flexible. All I ask for is communication that you’re needing an alternative payment plan and we’ll set it to match your needs. It is important to me that money is not a barrier to the services that you need to thrive in the postpartum period!
What are your certifications?
I am certified in blood borne pathogens and food handlers safety. I am trained in OSHA compliant cleaning protocols for food service. I am also trained in the arts of placenta encapsulation. I am happy to discuss my experience more during a consult.
